  • At noon: we will kick off our Lenten Worship Services with a traditional service

February 23-25: Rev. Rigoulot will be moderating the Palo Duro Presbytery at Camp Chaparral in Iowa Park, TX. Please keep Rev. Rigoulot and our Presbytery in your prayers at this time.

Lenten Services and Soup Lunches: We would like to encourage you all to attend our Lenten Worship services at noon throughout the season of Lent. The services are short enough that you can glorify God and enjoy good food and fellowship before the lunch hour ends at 1:00 pm. The following folks have graciously agreed to preach for us:

  • February 29: Nick or Blossom Matthews (First United Methodist)
  • March 7: Nancy Ruff (First Presbyterian)
  • March 14: Jeff Knighton (First Christian)
  • March 21: Lynn Hancock (Briarwood)
  • March 28: Jim Anderson (First Presbyterian).

Children’s Church: If you would be willing to help with Children’s Church, please sign up on the board in the gathering area outside the sanctuary.

Congregational Care Committee: wishes to thank everyone that helped in any way with the College Care Packages.

Luggage of Love: Children enter the foster care system through no fault of their own. They are there because those people charged with caring for them have failed in some area. They have no control over who they live with, where they will go to school or who sleeps in the same house with them.
In order to help ease these transitions for children and lessen the embarrassment, CASA of the High Plains is conducting a luggage drive for the month of February call Luggage of Love. Please join us in our effort to collect new or very gently used luggage that we can supply to these children when they have to move from one placement to another. We will be collecting luggage in our library throughout the month of February. If you would like to make a financial donation to be used to buy luggage for CASA, please put CASA on the memo line of your check or on the pew envelope.

Progress on the New Pipe Organ:

  • Good News! The new pipe organ should be completely installed by the end of March. This means that it will be used to enhance our worship for our Palm Sunday and Easter Celebrations!
  • Many of us have been looking forward to this moment for many months. We know Doris will be glad to play on an organ that doesn’t give us so much trouble. You may not have been aware of the frequent mistakes our present organ is making; Doris does a wonderful job covering up and making allowances for its many faults. While some may feel that our present organ is adequate, we felt the need to replace the organ before it completely gives out.
  • Before the new organ can be installed, preparations must be made to prepare the front of the sanctuary. While our Sunday services should not be interrupted, the front of the sanctuary may not be very attractive for a couple of months. Please bear with us as we endure this “mess” and look forward to seeing the beautiful pipes that will adorn our front wall.
  • Please contact Carolyn Kessel if you have any questions. We are happy to report that we are approximately $25,000 from having the organ completely funded. If you would like to make a donation, please contact the office or be sure to write “organ” on the memo line of your check.
